I committed myself to a last hurrah effort to finish the last experiment of the semester for Instrumentation Lab. The whole thing spanned a couple hours and felt incredibly blurred and half-assed. My midband gain was all over the place but the TAs are about as far gone as the students at this point in terms of caring. We will be tested on these circuits during the final exam so it’s not a total wash.
With it being Dead Week, we didn’t have a regular Professional Practice recitation. This gave me some extra time to either get some work done or slack. I chose the latter.
Japanese went ahead at the regularly scheduled time. The next two days were scheduled to be presentation days—yes, presentations in Japanese. We were further scheduled to go in alphabetical order and I wasn’t to go until Thursday. Due to various shifts or others passing the buck on, I ended up going today anyway. I wasn’t prepared and I hadn’t even finalized my presentation but I sucked it up and went anyway. The result was something akin to reading a rough draft through once or twice and trying to recite it from memory to an audience. Luckily, none of my classmates were particularly good or experienced at this either so they were rather forgiving. I think I was pretty lenient with my grading of others’ presentations.
After two weeks or so now, I’m still not feeling one hundred percent so I paid another visit to the doctor. The right ear is still filled with fluid and generally nasty and I’m still pretty congested. This time, the doctor recommended a cortisone shot to reduce the inflammation and more Sudafed to clear out the congestion. I hope it works. I don’t want to be like this when I’m in China.
Lots of work going on behind the scenes:
- RSS feed cleaned and fixed
- set up redirect for RSS at rss.acpstudios.net
- set up redirect for blog at blog.acpstudios.net
- various validation errors fixed
- more work done on admin section
- general code cleanup
More changes to come!
I got into a bit of a development groove this evening and I managed to make some more incremental updates on the site. The plans for the site for the immediate future include a new administration page for me, some changes in how database entries are stored, and the port of the site over to XHTML. They’ll probably happen in that order, although the new admin page is already in XHTML.
