That bastard gave a hard exam. I had worked about three or four term’s worth of previous exams—Brewer outright tells you what the problems will be—but the problems were still tricky. I have a feeling that I goofed something up. If the rest of the class does poorly then I should still be alright.
I took advantage of the mild weather in the evening to give my car a greatly-needed bath. The goal for the weekend is rest and relaxation.
The day was dedicated to all things 3042. For starters, a major writing assignment (10% of the total grade), a homework, and an informal lab report were due in lab. I am rather pleased with how the writing assignment came out. All those Word documents look so ugly next to a nice LaTeX document.
In the evening, I studied for the first of two midterm exams (another 10% each). I was floundering around with the problems until Titus lent his tutoring skills. I’m confident now, at least.
I met with my teammate Bryan for ECE 4000 to take care of our next homework, which is a team assignment. We finished within the planned meeting time (my mid-day break) so that worked out well. I worked for another three hours on my ECE 3042 writing assignment following classes. I wanted to have the TA look over my paper but I had to wait a good hour and a half while people with appointments went first. The TA didn’t find any major problems so that’s good at least.
I watched the first episode of “Last Exile” on DVD. It’s a visually stunning piece; some of the best animation I’ve seen in a long time. It definitely caught my interest.
I gave my presentation for 4000 today on Quality of Service and traffic shaping. I don’t think I made any major mistakes though I get the impression that most of the audience didn’t understand my topic. Ah, well.
I was experimenting with the international settings for Mac OS X and I stumbled upon something pretty cool. If Japanese input is enabled, I can type in romaji and it automatically converts it to either hiragana or katakana and kanji. No funky Alt-keystrokes for me! It’s really neat. I should post a screenshot.
It’s the start of another busy week and I’m feeling sick again. I also noticed this morning that the gas cap for my Supra is gone. I guess I lost it the last time I filled up the car. It’s another thing that needs to be taken care of (one of many).
